Wesley Leffingwell is an accomplished and versatile pianist and music educator with a deep commitment to classical and jazz music and thoughtful, well-rounded instruction. His musical journey has been shaped by extensive academic study, professional performance, and years of teaching students across a wide range of styles, ages, and skill levels.
Wesley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Denver and a Master’s degree in Piano from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Harpsichord at the University of Colorado Boulder, with an expected completion in 2026. His studies also include a semester abroad at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, further enriching his musical perspective and training.
For over 15 years, Wesley has instructed piano students in private and institutional settings, working with beginners through advanced musicians, spanning all ages and styles. His teaching experience includes roles at Boulder Symphony Music Academy, Colorado Music Quest, Music & Arts, and as a staff vocal pianist and guest masterclass lecturer at the Denver School of the Arts. He is also a frequent lecturer and guest artist at the University of Denver.
In addition to teaching, Wesley maintains an active performance career throughout Colorado and beyond. He has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Longmont Symphony Orchestra, and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. His work spans piano, harpsichord, organ, and collaborative performance, with a particular focus on early and classical repertoire.
Wesley’s professional experience also includes music direction and accompaniment. He has served for many years as Music Director and Organist at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church and has worked extensively as a choir accompanist for universities and professional ensembles. His specialized training includes fellowships and continuo performance at the American Bach Soloists Academy and the Emmanuel Bach Institute.
As a piano teacher at Sollohub School of Music in Denver, Wesley brings a balanced approach to instruction that emphasizes strong technical foundations, musical understanding, and expressive playing. He values curiosity, historical awareness, and practical musicianship, creating a supportive learning environment where students of all ages can grow with confidence and enjoyment.
